Oriental
architecture is characterized with its light colors, and its minute
and bright architectural forms.
And what increase its beauty are those mosaic pictures which cover
walls, in addition to marble arches and columns, as well as, the
ready- made floors which contain peaces of ornamented marble that
catches sights; and most of Furniture of houses and palaces of
its different kinds.
In Damascus there have been many skillful artists over ages that
turn mosques, palaces, inns, and even fountains in streets to
an elevated artistically presents that provide its visitor and
inhabitant a high feeling of sublimity beauty and smartness. One
of the most distinct artists who work on mosaic and cutting marble
in the meantime is Mr.Akram Hashem, who inherited this skill from
his father and grandsires as he hopes to leave this inheritance
to his children.
He thinks that marble is unlike gypsum, wood, copper, and iron
because its presence in ornamenting is warmer and more beautiful,
as well as, it keeps its colors and solidity all over the years
and seasons.
